In this article, we will look at ways to completely remove root access on your Android smartphone or tablet.

Types of root access and basic ways to remove root access.

If you want to remove root access, it is advisable to remember the way you rooted your Android. As the method of rooting your Android determines how it is removed, it will help you to clean up your system quickly and accurately.

There are 3 types of root access:

  • Full Root.
  • Shell Root.
  • Temporary Root.

Full Root means full and permanent superuser privileges. Programs and files are in the system partition, so rebooting or resetting will not help. An effective method is to delete all files associated with root manually, using a file manager. Better yet, change the firmware, via computer or custom recovery.

Shell Root same permanent superuser privileges, not reset after reboot. This type of root does not have access to the system directory. Therefore, a factory reset is sufficient to remove it. The firmware will also help to remove root access completely.

Temporary Root is a temporary root for one-off operations. Often used in file recovery software. When the system is rebooted, the root access is removed.

Temporary and partial root, deleted after reboot or reset. Root with access to the system directory is only removed after the OS has been fully flashed.

How do I remove the KingRoot?

Important: The method is not suitable for devices on the SpreadTrum platform.

As KingRoot is located in the system partition, a simple reset will not do. To uninstall KingRoot, use the Super-Sume software. The application replaces KingRoot with SuperSu, where it is easier to remove root access. However, the program often freezes, which is solved by selecting the correct version of the Super-Sume application. Another common problem is the failure to update the binary file. In this case it is also necessary to select the correct version of the software, and sometimes a custom modification.

Instructions:

  • Install the Super-Sume app.
  • In the app, press the blue button to go through the first step. If the correct version of the software is selected, the process will take a couple of seconds, otherwise 10 minutes or more.
  • In the second step, the programme often freezes. If it freezes, then restart the device after the first step. Open KingRoot, and root the device again.
  • Next, open Super-Sume, where perform the second step, to completely remove KingRoot.
  • Reboot the device. Then go to Super SU, where the settings have a “Full Root removal” option.
  • Then uninstall Super-Sume and Super SU.
